This study is a naturalistic family study that aims at distinguishing the differences and similarities of child and adolescent OCD and adult OCD in order to determine if the two are distinct disorders. A study that involves all family members allows us to gain information regarding trends in the family environment that we suspect would be distinctly different, if juvenile and adult onset OCD are, in fact, two different disorders. This study involves completing a diagnostic structured interview and cognitive/neurpsychological testing with each family member. We are currently in our third year of recruiting and have enrolled more than 80 families. By then end of this study in early 2004, we will have conducted interviews and cognitive testing with 100 juvenile probands (6-17 years old), 50 adults probands (> 20 years old) with juvenile onset, and 50 adult probands with adult onset.
