END-OF-LIFE SURVEY

To survey a nationally representative sample of 4th year medical students about their experiences and attitudes related to end-of-life-care and to compare survey results with student competencies in end-of-life-care as measured by the National Board of Medical Examiners.

PHYSICIANS' EMOTIONAL REACTIONS TO PATIENTS' DEATHS

This is a prospective, in-depth study of medical students, residents and faculty to explore their emotional responses to their patients' deaths, their attitudes towards palliative care, and their reported practices in caring for terminally ill patients.

PALLIATIVE CARE ROLE MODEL PROGRAM

In this program, faculty in multiple disciplines undergo an intensive learner-centered curriculum in palliative medicine to enhance their competence in pain and symptom management, end-of-life communication issues, psychosocial assessment and treatment, ethical issues, hospice philosophy and bereavement care.
