Description:

This fellowship was initiated by and is dedicated to the late M. Judah Folkman, who will continue to inspire generations of researchers.

The intent of this award is to advance the mission of finding an effective treatment for Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) by advancing related innovative clinical and translational research.

  • The proposal should integrate quantitative science and modern biology; present a multidisciplinary approach that ideally would aid in collaboration between disciplines and even laboratories; and focus on the fundamental mechanisms of LAM and its potential treatment.
  • Candidates are encouraged to draw from training in: pulmonary medicine; cancer biology; endocrinology; molecular biology; biochemical engineering; molecular imaging; immunology and other areas.
  • Participation is required in monthly LAM/TSC Seminar Series and potentially in LAM Treatment Alliance organized summits held at HMS and other internationally-based institutions. Awardees will be welcomed into a community of LAM researchers at HMS, MIT/affiliated institutions and a thriving international research network.
Duration:

2 year fellowship

(renewable if review committee deems significant progress has been made with exceptional value to translational LAM research effort)

Amount:

$75,000 annually in support

Eligibility
Requirements:

MD, MD/PhD, PhD

Applicants must:

  1. Have completed training and provided persuasive evidence of distinguished achievement or promise in research fields that are relevant to LAM research such as, but not limited to, those referred to above.
  2. Be required to update the Research Committee with progress reports on their funded research bi-annually.
